  • A selection of the finest high school comedians was on display yesterday at the Class Clowns Grand Final. Held at Melbourne Town Hall, Aaron Chen from New South Wales took the gong, taking home $1000 for himself and a further $1000 for his school.

  • Ingenious comedy showcase Deadly Funny is changing formats. Previous a comedy competition similar to RAW Comedy, Deadly will be a showcase of the country’s finest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comics. Sean Choolburra will MC the event, which will feature Kevin KropinyeriTristan SavageCy Fahey, and Mia Stanford. Deadly Funny takes place this Saturday, 3pm at the Town Hall.
  • If you’re a fan of podcasts, a live recording of I Love Green Guide Letters takes place today at Spleen Bar. After three successful live episodes with guests such as Wil Anderson and Andy Kindler and a feature article in the Green Guide, host Steele Saunders will return with another live episode featuring previous letter lover Lawrence Mooney and a mystery guest.   • British comedians Mark Thomas and Tim FitzHigham join forces for a book reading today. The two will read from their books from 3pm at the Sun Bookshop, 10 Ballarat St Yarraville.
  • Following the announcement of the Melbourne Airport Best Newcomer nominees, a renegade award has sprang it’s head into view for another year – the Jhonsy Award. Discussed on this week’s episode of podcast The Little Dum Dum Club, the award gives $1,000 to the most innovative local act. This year’s nominees are: Neil SinclairDingo & WolfAnyone for Tennis?Shane MathesonZoe Coombs MarrTommy DassaloLaura DavisSlow ClapAl Newstead, and Lisa-Skye. The award will be awarded tomorrow.
  • AWARDS: Tonight Festival Club’s Comedy Bonanza becomes the Festival Awards! Following comedy from Smart Casual, Justin Hamilton, DeAnne Smith, and Jon Dore; the following awards will be given out:
